The simple art of eating

Metropulos Fine Foods Merchant is located in the middle of Santa Barbara’s Urban Wine Trail.

Close to the beach, we are about 3 blocks off of State Street, the town’s main commercial thoroughfare.

Welcome to

Metropulos

Food...it’s just a passion for us.  We love to eat.  We love to eat well.  We hope to impart our love for great foods to you, and to provide you with ways to eat well without complicating your life.

Opened in 2004, Metropulos Fine Foods Merchant is the culmination of many years of research and planning combined with a passion for good simple food;  it’s a way for us to be around the things we love, teaching others about those things, and bringing you the goodness you deserve.

We all have to eat, so we might as well eat well, yes?

Philosophies

Life is way too short for bad wine, bad books and bad food.  Plus a host of other things too lengthy to mention here.  Part of our philosophy on life is that if the wine is bad, don’t drink it;  and if the food isn’t interesting, make it so.

Fine Dining is a spectacular and wonderful thing to behold; if you are like us, though, it’s mainly reserved for Special Occasions when you get Dressed Up and spend a lot of Clams.  What about the other 360 days of the year?

Here are a few ideas:

Ï A loaf of Our Daily Bread artisan baguette, a hunk of Italian testun cheese, some Fra’Mani salame Toscano, some Sicilian Castelvetrano olives, a bottle of Santa Barbara Winery Rose,  and your best friend...on Rattlesnake trail.

Ï A roast chicken (we’ll do it for you), roast potatoes, and grilled asparagus.  Picnic on the beach or your living room floor with your kids; they’ll love it.

Ï A sampler of assorted antipasti including jamon Iberico, marinated peppers stuffed with prosciutto and provolone, some manchego cheese, kalamata olives, and a loaf of ciabatta.   Add a bottle of Whitcraft Pinot to make it divine.  It doesn’t matter if it’s a week night and it doesn’t matter if your goodies are all from different countries!  Just as long as you love it and it’s easy to gather.

Eating well doesn’t mean eating complicated.  We truly love to share good, simple food with friends and family, and are here to help you do the same.
